You’re gonna throw rocks at me today…LOL….. By Dr. Richard Reikowski, Au.D Family Hearing and Balance Center

Say’s a nice little old lady of 93 years in youth….

She proceeded to say, I have a story to tell you. This time it’s my fault and I promise you that I will never do this again. Normally when I come in for a check up, of which I have been a patient with you for over 20 years, has not been my fault. Well, this time it is my fault…as she chuckled. I tried cleaning the hearing aid and a a small plastic tube in the hole came out. It doesn’t seem to sound as good now so I assume I did something. I am sorry Dr. Reikowski…saying this with a sad face.

After hearing this, it seems as though the vent insert came out which can happen when a patient cleans the vent portion. I quickly reassured her that this is no problem that can’t be easily addressed. I simply put in a vent insert to decrease the airflow and all was perfectly fine. The sound was improved as the venting plays an important part to sound quality and fullness of bass.

She and I both laughed together and enjoyed the visit very much!
