Sound, speech, and all that we hear is where the conversation begins…. That is, coming from a patient that has a very thought provoking way of discussing his hearing and understanding of speech.
“What I hear is very different than what others may hear. How I perceive what I hear is what’s real to me. With a hearing loss or without a hearing loss, how you perceive what was heard can be completely different or …what is real?” He shared being very comfortable, welcoming, and pleased with his new hearing devices in hearing the many new sounds in his daily life. This was so meaningful and adds clarity to a persons perception of the world they hear. Great to be a part of this!

Thanks Mary!
“How I perceive what I hear is what’s real to me”.
This is so true on every level of life, not just hearing! I think this is the beginning to understanding any point of view or other people and where they might be coming from. I think this is even the beginning of compassion as well…..the understanding that we all think differently and see things through different lenses!
Jen,
Well said and I agree. Humility and compassion!
