Tinnitus Treatment: Widex Zen and patient success… By Dr. Richard Reikowski, Au.D Family Hearing and Balance Center, Akron, Ohio

I saw a patient this morning that has been wearing the Widex Fusion digital hearing devices with Zen, tinnitus management, for several months. She recently was a victim of a car accident, and now suffers from tinnitus, hyperacusis, recruitment, and other sensitivities of lighting. She reports that the Widex hearing devices clearly have provided her with relief, beyond description. This young woman is regularly wearing the digital hearing devices with commitment and an optimistic attitude. She has programs, in her Widex devices, in which she can easily change with a push of her remote control, based on the real-time change of her ear sensitivity and tinnitus.

In her own words she openly remarks, with a smile, “I can’t believe that I would have been able to get back to where I was, before. The accident left me with a sensitivity of the world around me.”

The Widex devices, using the Zen tinnitus management, have offered this young woman an improved quality of life. A case like this, appearing very rare indeed, is a success that we as audiologists count as an honor to be a part of. I, and our staff, most certainly do!
