“The positive negatives” By Dr. Amy Welman Family Hearing and Balance Center

I had an inspiring conversation with someone who is an awesome testament to what it means to see the silver lining when life gets tough. When bad things happen in life, you have two basic choices: stay angry, or look for the positives from that negative experience. There is always a positive that comes from a negative, not immediately, but eventually. It can be a challenge to look for those positives but it’s the only thing that will fight against the sadness, anger, and confusion.
Tinnitus causes a lot of negative emotions including frustration and hopelessness. We can help people get through those negative emotions and help manage the tinnitus by helping reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety that can be associated with tinnitus. Music based therapies, masking, and relaxation techniques along with collaboration of other medical professionals has helped people manage their tinnitus and regain their positive outlook and quality of life.
