“Smile, Laugh, Dance, and Pray and you will have a Blessed Day”, Says a patient….By Dr. Amy Welman, Au.d Family Hearing and Balance Center

I can make the world a happier place - positive words on a slate blackboard against red barn wood

As expected each year, the month of December is full of excitement, love, and giving (and a little stress).  We are reminded to be kind to each other and during this month of the year, we all try to be “better people”.  A recent patient of ours showed me that there are people who are truly trying to make the world a better place, and not just because Santa is coming to town.  Our patient said, “Smile, Laugh, Dance, and Pray and you will have a blessed day”.  He said that is his message to the world, and when someone who lives in China or Australia says it back to him, he will know his message has gone all the way around the world.  I’m spreading his message in hopes that someday he will hear someone say it back to him, and as encouragement to everyone to keep trying to be “better people”, even after the holiday season has ended.

I had the privilege of being at the window when this patient stated this out loud and not only was it an encouraging phrase but he meant it! You could tell he really tries to live his life this way.
I love when patients share a piece of themselves that you can take with you at the end of the day.
