Work and our job duties are one thing, and relationships are another. Relationships that are created while working with others are gifts. When we do what is necessary in our positions and with our responsibilities, we are provided or “gifted” very special moments to become connected with others in life, their stories, their family, and their moments of sadness and joy.
I am ever grateful for this young lady, who wished to have a picture taken with me on her last visit. I have known her for several years and have enjoyed our talks and times we shared. She is moving on to live with her daughter out of state. With this comes so many mixed emotions for her of new beginnings and much sadness and void of “what was normal”. I am very happy for this patient with the future care that her daughter, and family will be able to provide for their mother. I am equally wishing that she sees these as new beginnings of home, and new friends, and that she will most surely meet new people who will be nice and welcoming.
I was so fortunate to have become acquainted and friends with such a kind lady! These connections make for a special day!
It’s great to get to make connections with patients like this.
