Potatoes make sounds? By Dr. Richard Reikowski, Au.D Family Hearing and Balance Center

I had a wonderful visit with the most kind woman of approximately 90 years young. This was her first visit after the fitting of her new digital Resound hearing aids (devices). She commented, after I asked how she is doing, “I never new potatoes made sounds”. This made me think and also truly wonder what was to follow. When asked more of this, she replied that when she peeled potatoes recently she noticed the sound of the peeler on the potato. She was amazed and thought how much she must have missed.

She thanked me for helping her to hear these things in life that many may take for granted. She proceeded to share how much she feels “a part of things” when her family gets together. She expressed gratitude for the ability to hear better and opportunity to talk with others more freely.

I am overjoyed with the humility of many and for having the immense honor to be a part of peoples lives. Our practice is devoted to helping others in any way that we can.

It’s a gift.
