Overall I have had a lot of patients appreciate the bluetooth connectivity of their digital hearing aids. Of course there are a myriad of benefits when it comes to audio streaming of music and audiobooks as well as the control of the app but one thing that stood out to several of my patients was privacy! It is something that many of us may never think about but as we lose our hearing, people tend to turn to speaker phone on in order to better hear people on the phone. This of course comes with the disadvantage of making your conversation very public. Thankfully, audio streaming of phone calls has been a helpful tool for patients by allowing phone conversations to go through patient's hearing aids and therefore, the sound stays in their ears. This comes with the benefit of amplified speech making it easier to understand your conversation partner but also gives you back the ability to easily make the conversation private again. Special thanks to Ryan Phillips, our 4th year Doctoral Audiology student, for sharing this story with us.
Nicely written and shared Ryan. Offering privacy to patient phone calls is an important thing!
That’s a great feature to have! Thank you for sharing Ryan!
It sure is. A nice benefit to digital hearing aids.
So true! Streaming is great, I like to use my Bluetooth headphones to stream audiobooks and music. How awesome that hearing aids can do the same!
Great point and sharing ELizabeth. Thank you.
Agreed, always nice to have the benefit of two ears but without everyone hearing your phone call!
How true. Two ears help!
