I am doing my own little experiment over the next couple of days, and I want to share it with you.
I have hearing loss. I am fortunate to have access to hearing devices, but I wanted to see what my experiences are with them out of my ears…and it didn’t take long.
I walked into the deli for the dinner that I had ordered online. The lady that was there I have seen many times, and she is happy and always a great experience. I heard, “Do you want to pay?”
“I paid.”
I heard again, “Do you want to pay?”
“I paid,” I said louder and with attitude.
Her smile went away, and she motioned for me to move closer. “I asked, how is your day?” I know you paid because I have the receipt right here.”
I missed the connection. I heard, but I didn’t understand. It created a misunderstanding and tension that didn’t need to be. A great reason to wear my hearing aids. It gives me and the person I am talking with the opportunity to connect, and reduces the chance of me causing a smile to go away.
Connection is so important and it’s wonderful that hearing aids help with that!
It sure is Elizabeth.
Yes, it’s definitely better if you wear them.
Agree completely!
Very nice share Dale. Thank you.
