Just Try and Tell a Joke!

So two guys walk into a restaurant (of course with their masks on) and the Hostess walks up to them.

“Mmmph mummph ma mumph?” She asked, trying to talk through her mask as it sucked into her face and ballooned back out.

The two guys looked at each other and nodded “yes” because she couldn’t be asking them to “get out.” The Hostess put a pair of gloves on, picked up two sealed sets of utensils, and two wipeable menus. She moved into the eating area, and the two guys guessed and followed her.

“Mummphmp,” she said, and the two guys just cracked up laughing.

I didn’t get it either.

Hopefully, one day, when masks are a thing of the past, the joke will be clearer, and our days will be safer. These are days of learning to smile better with our eyes, and make others aware if we have a hearing loss so that communication has a chance.

So, as the new year approaches, be patient with those of us who have a hearing loss, smile big with your eyes, hold on to your hearing aids when you remove your masks, and may 2021 be music to our ears and less noise to our mind.
