It’s not the cats fault…

A patient came in this morning and I noticed a fairly large crack in the side of her custom hearing aid. It had clear tape covering the crack to help hold it together. When asked what may have happened, she remarked, this time it wasn’t the cats fault. She said a few months ago her cat played with and lost her left hearing aid. This time, she wasn’t sure what caused the crack but felt confident it wasn’t due to her cat…LOL!

We had a good laugh and I said it’s no problem to repair it as it’s under warranty. We place a 3 year warranty including loss and damage on hearing devices. Even cat damage….LOL!

She felt a bit embarrassed as the left side has had issues of being lost, cracked, and now felt that she was causing trouble or becoming burdensome. It’s what we do. We try and help in any way we can. The lab will repair it good as new!

It’s great that we can always send it back under warranty to get it fixed for those who have some rambunctious cats lol.

Life happens, right? Cell phones, eyeglasses, jewelry, contact lens, and even hearing aids get lost or misplaced from time to time. There are so many crazy stories from patients who have shared over the years, that I can’t count them all! From dropping their hearing aids in the toilet, driving over them with the car, diving into their swimming pool or shower with them in their ears, or their dog found a tasty treat under the sofa! Maintaining the Loss & Damage insurance coverage can be a good thing. Looking into L & D coverage through your homeowner’s or renter’s coverage is a good idea. You just never know.

Those pets! Something similar happened to another patient with a cat chewing the charging wire. How amazing is it that these things come with a warranty! Not a problem at all to get these things fixed.

Looks like the kitty is just laying back and “killing time.” I know if I have pets around, one cannot get comfortable and leave devices out.

True. Chilling and taking it easy. Agree, the pets do like the devices.
