My new Oticon More digital hearing devices are amazing and clear. Speech and the world around me is so different. It’s right in front of me. I can hear my husband when he’s talking from the side and from behind.
I’m much more aware of what’s going on around me. Here’s a good example, I went home and wondered why the TV volume was so high. My husbands said, wow, that’s the volume you needed it at before your hearing was improved.
They both laughed!
Not only did they get their hearing improved with hearing aids, but it helps the husband as well! Now they can enjoy the TV at a not too loud volume.
How true that is Liz! It certainly makes tv watching more enjoyable!
That’s wonderful! And I’m sure her husband is happy too!
Right Gail! They both are happy…:)
Having the ability to hear things better around you make life 100% easier! Happy to see that she can hear her husband better to help their communication.
It sure does Sarah! I am equally happy with how she is doing.
Hearing as close to normal hearing as possible is something that I have a hard time describing.
A whole new world would be a great phrase.
I like that phrase!
Thank you for sharing your experience! This is encouraging to so many others who have experienced, and are continuing to experience, these same challenges. Many folks become withdrawn and no longer participate in activities that they used to enjoy with their family and friends. Being a part of the “hearing world” enables folks to become engaged in those activities again. Walking outside while hearing the sounds of nature like birds chirping, a calm breeze, waves crashing on a beach, children laughing, or a whisper from your loved one brings joy back into your life. What seemed difficult or frustrating while hearing and communicating in environments like your favorite restaurant, sporting event or musical, has, once again, become enjoyable and fulfilling. Folks look forward to spending time with family and friends while creating new memories together in a fresh, new way.
Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and sentiments Monica. Very well said!
