Is it possible for me to hear again from that ear? This question coming from a patient that has had no hearing in his left ear, for decades, after a virus affected the inner ear nerve endings. He said, “I could never imagine what that must be like to hear from both of my ears again. How can that be, when physicians have said the nerve was gone and surgery couldn’t help”?
Let me explain, we can help you hear the sound that was once delivered to the poor ear through the use of a special digital transmitter. The transmitter, being quite small, is worn on the ear with little or no hearing, in your case the left ear, and it’s purpose is to be the hearing in that ear. When sounds reach the left side of the head, it then sends the sound to the better ear, in your case the right ear. In real time, the perception of hearing sound in a balanced way, is renewed. Our goal is to help you to hear sounds from the side having little or no hearing. Yes, it can be quite easy! Digital hearing aids, with transmitters and receivers, can help restore the loss of sound that is heard from the ear with severe hearing loss. You can even talk on the phone with the left ear.
The left ear nerve loss is still present but in this system, no sound is being delivered to the left ear but gathered from the left side and sent wirelessly to the right ear digital hearing aid. The brain has the special ability to help manage and balance the sound that is sent and received between the ears. In the case of the Unitron Digital hearing aid processing system, we can modify the digital processing to change the way the sound is delivered. This is done wirelessly through Bluetooth capabilities…. quite easy!
Yes, it is possible! Better yet, let me show you….
