I thought it was so profound how this patient related how her dizziness and imbalance was affecting her life. She shared, that since she has been experiencing dizziness, she has not been able to ride her bike with any degree of confidence. In fact, she can’t even stop and park her bike without the worry of falling over. Her husband in fact, needs to hold her bike for her to attempt to get off. She loved to ride her bike outside as it was so enjoyable and free feeling. Her ongoing balance difficulties have occurred for several years and she stated that she has had it addressed medically years ago, with no good direction on resolutions.
We have immediately arranged a full balance assessment to gain an overview of the vestibular system. We will most importantly communicate these outcomes with her and her physicians. Our goals are to help her to achieve what is so meaningful in her life….to ride her bike with freedom! This of course, will help her mobility and enjoyment of life itself.
I love riding my bike! Hopefully we can help her get back on with confidence!
That’s great! I hope so as well.
I’m sure she’ll be happy with any help we can offer!
How true Gail!
I can relate. My balance has been terrible ever since I was a kid.
Wow, I didn’t know that….
That has to be so frustrating for her. I’m so happy that we are able to help her and get her back to what she loves!
Kara, yes, is certainly frustrating for her. We are going to try!
