I didn’t even know that it beeped?!?…… By Dr. Richard Reikowski, Au.D Family Hearing and Balance Center

He started hearing his glucometer for his daily blood sugar tests for his diabetes. Prior to hearing the beeps, he would wait for a light to come on knowing it was time to test, as well as the screen would indicate the results when it was finished. But now, he can hear the beeps!

Some things in the world, that have always been there, are now heard. Things such as the microwave beeping, timer on the oven, and the buzzer on the dryer are now heard. Hey, I even can hear my cat meow….and, he’s pretty loud!

He went on to say, I’m certain that they were there before but hadn’t heard them before.

It’s a real pleasure to be able to offer an improved quality of life to hear sounds so meaningful to ones health, life, and safety. It’s what we do…..

It is really incredible to hear the patient’s stories when they do get hearing aids and the sounds they were missing are now being heard again.

…the clacking on the computer keyboards were crazy. But, hearing the tv below a volume of 10 was great!

Yes, the keyboard key sounds are very new to new hearing device wearers. Good point! Glad the TV is better too!

That’s great! I love hearing stories, much like this one, from our patients. I have been told about sounds like blinkers in the car, zippers on coats, the sounds of the traffic and the birds that people have not heard in a long time. The looks of excitement and joy on their faces are also fun to see. It truly makes you happy for them!
