I had an incident, I was on my property doing yardwork in a heavy wooded. My son came to visit and walked down the hill, while calling me, so I wouldn’t be surprised and scared or startled. Normally, when someone approaches from behind I’m surprised, as I can’t hear them approaching or tell where they are due to my hearing loss. She went on to say that she couldn’t hear her son and felt the noise or voice was coming from a different direction and perspective.
She has had moments like this so often through the years and is hopeful to have the ability to tell where sound is coming from. A severe hearing loss in one ear and no hearing in the other has caused this difficulty. We will be working with digital hearing aid technology that will allow her “better or hearing loss ear” to have hearing in the normal ranges and the ear with no hearing to wear a small transmitter. The transmitter will transfer the sound from the side of the head that has no hearing to the hearing ear, in real time. She will have the ability to hear balanced and also to locate the direction or location of sounds. This has been successful in so many cases and we feel confidently that she will share this same wonderful improvement in hearing!
It’s very important to hear where sounds are coming from.
So true Mary!
Looking forward to hearing about her experience with this technology!
Same Tiffany! Will keep you posted.
I’m sure she’ll enjoy her yard even more when she can hear all around her!
That’s a great point!
that is so…disconcerting.
It most certainly can be.
Such a great advancement in technology that many people could benefit from but few know about!
What do you mean her “better or hearing loss ear”? Do you mean “worse ear”?
Oh, you meant her better ear. It was a little confusing.
