How our practice helps those with tinnitus…

As a Research Member of the American Tinnitus Association we remain committed to helping those with tinnitus. Many with ringing in their ears are bothered by how it distracts their daily living as there’s a strong negative connection associated. Resolving this can be an extensive, yet successful process, in so many ways. The definition of success in helping to change the way each patient hears their tinnitus is varied and profound. We wish to modify how the ringing is heard or reduce the way it distracts ones quiet or relaxation in their day.

A tinnitus patient tends to hear the ringing, roaring, whistling sounds ” front and center” in their life. Often patients say, it’s just always there, I don’t recall a time that I didn’t have ringing in my ears. Our goal is to to help place tinnitus in the background, or off to the side, per se. How we help often depends on if there is a hearing loss present. In this case, digital hearing devices can best resolve the tinnitus issues, in addition to helping one to hear better. We place the necessary time to best help people to quiet their tinnitus, with in-person as well as telehealth services. Often we may find it helpful to refer a patient to counseling and/or other professionals to offer input. A team approach works great!
