How our “Eyes affect what we Hear” By Kristie Dannemiller – Smith, M.A., CCC/A Cardinal Hearing Centers

I loved this note from Kristie, our Clinical Audiologist at our Cardinal Hearing Center’s office in Northfield and Parma. Thanks Kristie!!

Last week I had the pleasure of presenting what an audiologist is to a group of Brownie Girl Scouts. I explained to them the causes and treatments for hearing loss and was overwhelmed with their interest in the subject. I showed them different types of hearing aids and their main response was “look at how small these are!” I immediately smiled because I just had a patient earlier that day look at the same instruments and say “look how big these look”. Perspective can be so different depending on the eyes looking at the situation. I got a real kick out of it and all of the girls had really good questions. I handed out chocolate ears for every correct answer and they devoured them before the session was over. It was nice giving back to the community, especially since I was a girl scout for 14 years!
