Hearing Loop – It’s like a new world… By Dr. Richard Reikowski, Au.D Family Hearing and Balance Center

It’s like a whole new world, says a patient that for the first time experienced the benefits of a hearing loop. He has had a severe hearing loss for many years,  with difficulty hearing in large areas such as at church services or at the theater. Today, we added a loop program in his prior fit digital hearing devices. His face showed the excitement and amazement with hearing for the first time a “new” way of hearing, that is with the loop!

We are happy to have the loop system installed in our Akron practice location. The loop allows for direct connectivity to sound systems such as those in public theaters,  performing arts halls, as well as in local schools and colleges.  We look forward to demonstrating the benefits of the loop for those with hearing loss and their families. We share how this works in real life situations so that when you are seeing a live performance or concert you will better understand how to connect with your hearing aids for an enjoyable experience! It’s as easy as pushing a button on the hearing aid or through a smartphone app and hearing the sound directly to your ears.

Essentially, when you are listening via a loop, with your hearing aids, the sound will directly stream to you…. as if you’re inside the sound system. It’s quite simple actually! The loop delivers a clear signal without the variable of distance you are seated from the performers or music. Please, see the below video to better understand the loop.

We welcome you to our office to hear the loop for yourself!
