Hearing a Good Meal: Photos Courtesy of Rich Filar, Resound: By Dale Hansen, Practice Administrator, Family Hearing, and Balance Center

filar1

We are privileged to have a Hearing Representative who shares his meal experience in pictures within his social media. I always wondered why Rich Filar did this, until I had the opportunity to experience one of the meals with him.

He explained why he documents these moments in pictures. To him, it is all about the senses. It is the smell and taste of the food, the presentation, the sounds of the restaurant, and finally, the good conversation and company that all complete the experience.

filar3Those moments are moments of joy for him. So, he snaps a picture of where he was and who sat with him to break bread. For his job, he sits with people who struggle with hearing sensory loss, and these moments of joy for him is a daily challenge for them. That’s why he does what he does; to work toward better and normal hearing, so that they, too, can experience such joyful moments. Any loss of smell, taste, sight, or hearing are all part of the experience that he never wants to take for granted.

It makes sense Rich. Thank you for the pictures, and thank you for helping us help our patients hear better every day.
