“Family Hearing and Balance Center has truly given me my life back”…Tinnitus success! By Amy Welman, Au.D Family Hearing and Balance Center, Akron Ohio

Dr. Welman, and the staff at “Family Hearing and Balance Center” have truly given me my life back

My life took a dramatic turn in 2011. I was sitting in my police cruiser when I stretched my arm and inadvertently hit the trigger to the shotgun that was mounted overhead. It seems that, unbeknownst to me, the officer who had the cruiser before me, left it loaded with the safety off. The shotgun discharged within 1 ½ inches above my head. The intense sound and pressure from the shotgun blast produced uncontrollable and intense ringing in my ears. I tried to live with the torment of the ringing, but it became too much to bear. It began to effect every aspect of my life.

I finally sought treatment at “Family Hearing and Balance Center.” I was skeptical at first, as I did not believe that there was any relief from the uncontrollable ringing. I was impressed  by the professionalism and knowledge of Dr. Amy Welman. Dr Welman told me about the Neuromonics Oasis device that is used to treat Tinnitus.  I began the treatment and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of soothing sounds. I began to notice that the ringing was still there, but it was not overwhelming anymore. I was able to almost “tune it out” and go about my day. It no longer controlled me as it once did. As the treatment progressed, I found myself not even noticing the ringing, as a matter of fact, even when I did notice the noise, I was able to sort of acknowledge it being there, but not focus on it at all. I still have the occasional ringing in my ears, but what began as an ever present and overwhelming life altering deafening ringing noise, has been reduced to a very manageable minor nuisance. Dr. Welman, and the staff at “Family Hearing and Balance Center” have truly given me my life back. The people who do not suffer from this affliction can never know how overwhelming and truly disabling it can be. But, if you do suffer from Tinnitus, I would highly recommend trying the Neuromonics Oasis Device, It changed my life.

I want to personally thank this patient for offering these very personal words of his experience with Tinnitus. It is a pleasure for me and our staff to be a part of each persons success!! Rich
