Ear Impressions…How do we know what it’s like? By Dr. Richard Reikowski, Au.D Family Hearing and Balance Center Akron, Ohio

Having ear impressions made can bring upon many different feelings such as that of hesitancy, concern, fear, pain, claustrophobia, etc. Well let’s first chat about these feelings that can arise due to the unknown. I had ear mold impressions taken today  and must say how pleasant and even really “cool” it was. The impression material today is very smooth and high viscosity. In other words, the experience of having ear mold impressions taken should be one of comfort, newness and a unique feeling, and even a time to experience a sense of quiet that is not observed too often. Ear molds should be looked at to solve a great need such as improving ones hearing, protecting ones hearing with noise molds, keeping water out of the ears with swim molds etc. Dr. Welman did an excellent job taking my impressions and I, without reservation, say we take all patient cares and concerns as a high regard. We respect each and every patient and help them to experience impressions as something “really cool”, not something to fear…..
