Do you know when I use that?….By Dr. Richard Reikowski, Aud Family Hearing and Balance Center

A patient described how she adjusts her hearing aids with her Iphone app.

Sometimes the environments call for adjustments based on the noise, acoustics, as well as with male and female voices, she said. It’s simply amazing for a patient to make such simple and yet complex adjustments, with their smartphone app to resolve nearly every concern, as it arises.

This may seem trivial but rather impressive. As years ago, patients had little hands-on or self control of their daily hearing abilities. That is, to be able to correct areas in need, as it occurs. Wow, how about offering the ability of the patient to send their audiologist a message of their hearing aids analysis and performance  in real-time! This message can come in the form of an email with valuable information including the hearing aid settings, volume levels, program in use, as well as information of the speech, noise, and environmental acoustics! Yes, I would say that’s impressive!

I am always impressed with new hearing aid technology! Having the patient as an active participant in their daily life with adjustments to the hearing aids via the app is wonderful!
