Compare and Contrast……By Dr. Richard Reikowski, Au.D Family Hearing and Balance Center

There’s a true advantage of assessing new digital hearing aids when one has prior experience with wearing older styles and types. We are glad to demonstrate the current advanced hearing technology for patients. For those with prior experience, they have a unique way to compare current to new. They can feel more confident in their decision to pursue a replacement of their older hearing aids with the advantages present in today’s technology. Such as, rechargeable features are abundant and quite successful for those wishing to not have to replace batteries. This is very helpful for those with declining vision and limited hand or arm dexterity.  The new lithium ion rechargeable batteries can last upwards of 6 years prior to needing replaced.

The new hearing devices are very water resistant with excellent designs and Gore Tex protection. Wireless connectivity to TV and cell phones is simply easy. Offering the ability to patients to make “real time” adjustments in any situation, with their smartphone app gives a freedom like never seen before. Patients can also adjust for specific needs such as with tinnitus and sound sensitivity or misophonia.

For the Audiologist, we gather very informative data of patient use,  adjustments they prefer, as well as environment sound level information, to best educate and help patients. Data management and logging, details information of the hearing aids performance and functioning and is essential for great patient success. Our staff are pleased to chat with you about demonstrating or Test-Driving new hearing devices.
