Between need and interest…it’s intriguing. By Dr. Richard Reikowski, Au.D Family Hearing and Balance Center

I still enjoy learning, I can turn the lights on and off at my house, I can see the home cameras with my iphone, and now I can have full control of my digital hearing aids with my iPhone app…says a happy patient!

I’m amazed at how easy it is to hear, the way I felt I should have always wanted to hear. The new sounds I hear at home and at work is fascinating. I had little idea how much I was missing in the world, until now. I know there are many that wouldn’t have much interest in changing their hearing aid settings in noisy areas or for speech but I love the idea of hands-on control! Yes, it’s both a need and very interesting for sure!

For those that wish for their new digital hearing aids to function automatically, in which most do, it’s easy for this as they function on their own, based on the environmental acoustics, as well as the amount of noise and speech in the surrounding area. As I visit with patients, on a regular basis, I enjoy sharing with them about new app features such as finding the hearing aids if lost, and remote assistance. That’s fascinating!
