A bee, a hearing aid, and an iPod touch…….Dr. Richard Reikowski, AU.D Family Hearing and Balance Center

macro shot of honey bee on camomile

Here’s a story of how today’s digital technology helps patients to find lost hearing aids. This patient reports…

He was walking along a sidewalk close to his home. A bee flew between his glasses and his eyes. He quickly pulled the glasses off to get rid of the bee. Unfortunately, at the same time his hearing aid flew off from the top of his ear and went into some heavy weeds, nowhere to be found.

He went home to get his iPod touch and set it to “find hearing aids”, and then returned to the place he lost the hearing aid. As he walked in the vicinity of where it was lost, he could see on his iPod touch app screen the “signal getting stronger and stronger”. Low and behold, he then reached down into the weeds and found his hearing aid. He was SOOOOO HAPPY!!!

This was a great story of today’s advancements in Resound LiNX2 digital hearing aid technology, and how patients can prevent their hearing aids from being lost.

Awesome story. What a relief it is to find something so very important to a hearing impaired person! I had lost my aid too and used my phone to find my aid and never in a million years would I have looked where it was found. My audiologist was kind enough to remind me of the app!

Love this!! So glad that he found his hearing aid. I love that when a patient asks if the hearing aids have GPS in them yet, I get to say sort of!!

Awesome! Lucky he had an iPad touch, otherwise his hearing aid would be lost forever.
